Village Parks Plan
The Village Parks Plan is the first parks master planning process undertaken by The City of The Village, a small municipality now surrounded by Oklahoma City.
LAUD Studio looked at six parks across The Village, and developed a clear path forward for each park with updated site plans and cost estimates. The plan goes beyond what can be accomplished with current bond funding to guide future development and fundraising efforts.
Community engagement was essential in this landlocked city to make sure that the parks land available best serves the needs of its residents. LAUD developed online and paper surveys and held community chats, all publicized through local signage and flyers. At the city’s block party LAUD talked to residents, and got kids involved in designing their dream playground.
At the Community Chats residents, city leaders, and city employees all talked together to shape the parks.
The master plans for each park show programming, circulation, and planting zones so that The Village can make improvements over time add to an effective whole.
